Painters:  Eric Fischl, Richard Diebenkorn, De Kooning, Cezanne, Rothko

Bands: The Shins, The Barenaked Ladies, Boards of Canada, John Weinland, Adelaide, Neil Young, Nick Drake...  I could go on forever.

Cities: Definitely Portland, Paris, San Francisco - I'm not well travelled...

Food: Growing up in Kansas, I never thought I'd be a foodie, but I fucking love food, so it's hard to name a favorite.  However, one of my favorite meals right now is a nice peice of steak pan fried with lots of salt and pepper, porcini mushroom risotto, and asparagus, downed with a bottle of full bodied red wine.  Then some chocolatey treat afterwords.  That's pretty unbeatable at this point.  Coffee is my other favorite food.

Baby Names: Sophie Evelyn Graves, Four weeks and one day old today (Oct 17th).

Mental Illnesses: I am fascinated by mental illnesses, however I am committed to treating people that suffer from them, so I can't say that I have a favorite because that would be analogous to saying I have a favorite torture device and I love to watch it being used on people that don't deserve it.

Art Movement: As one can tell from my favorite artist list, I'm a big Abstract Expressionist guy, however the new figurative movement is resonating very strongly with me right now.

Favorite Painting:  That's tough...  Any still life from Diebenkorn's mid career, and also Woman reading paper, 1960, by Diebenkorn.  There's a Rothko that is a large orange field over a smaller blue field that will blow you away if you see it in person.  Sublime stuff.
